Research and Development

MCC, Inc. has been engaged on a variety of research projects by government clientele over the years. Long-term research projects with CMS and the State of California yielded conceptual models for implementation.

Descriptions of these examples have been provided below:

  • The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in cooperation with LMI Government Consulting and MCC, Inc. sought to develop an early warning system for detecting marketing abuses in Medicare Advantage programs. Working cooperatively, MCC, Inc. played a major role in identifying high-risk markets in the US and Puerto Rico, conducting the field work, and implement measures that met the objectives.
  • Following the results from a state audit, The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation sought external expertise to review the status of healthcare contracts, policies and procedures, and staff associated with negotiations of health care contracts with outside providers. MCC, Inc. secured the competitive contract, and conducted the reviews. The final deliverable consisted of many recommendations related to structure, staffing, and qualifications of healthcare contract development staff. Based on the results, a comprehensive training for health care contracting staff is completed with a 96% satisfaction level of “excellent.”
  • The California State Independent Living Council (SILC) and California State Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) commissioned a study of the Sate Medi-Cal Plan and all existing waivers to identify living alternatives to institutionalization for those who have disabilities. MCC, Inc. secured the engagement through a competitive bid to conduct the full-scale review and report.
